Real Answer

Okay let me break it down for you.

Instagram is this paradigm whereby anyone but especially because I am a woman, and most especially, a trans woman, and even more so, being any of those things and trying to advance myself fiscally (as is necessary under capitalism)

I am expected to be “on” 24/7/365

I am expected to look as fake as possible

I am expected to spend all my time maintaining this undesired, never asked for shit show

F U C K                      T H A T

 

 

T:DR  

IT reduces anyone who isn’t a white male to how desirable they are to fuckboys. 

It reduces everything to advertising and hits.

 

So…why DON’T you hate Instagram?

 

Unless I want to write my stuff in fecal matter on the walls of my office I have to use the Machine’s tools to get eyes on my stuff.  Full stop.

But I don’t want to further the Machine’s aims or help it do it’s thin in any way.

If I can find a way to advance my own agenda in such an environment great!  But I don’t see one there.   Might be something to do with the way they keep the place hidden from the rest of the internet. 

Whatever.   I probably can't articulate quite why I have such an aggro against the place to a rational degree.   But I've never let that (or much of anything else) stop me before.

  ... Has been a long hard trip. I’ve had … other years as challenging as this one. 2001 when I left Texas, 2004 when I had to leave university (and San Angelo, where my kid was) as I had no where else to live, and of course 2008 when I moved to California and lost my fucking mind. All of these, rough, some voluntary, some not, hard times of ungentle transition. Many bridges are burning, even though I did not light them. All I had to do was insist on my boundaries and my needs, and let those who would not – could not – respect this, find the door out of my life.
